In Orthodox Christianity, “Sophia, the Wisdom of God” means divine wisdom—the eternal wisdom of God revealed in creation and salvation. According to Orthodox theology, the deepest meaning of the Wisdom of God is connected to Jesus Christ Himself.
As Saint Paul writes: ”Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.” – 1st Corinthians 1:24
It is critical to understand the correct meaning of “Sophia, the God’s Wisdom”; this is Christ, the Logos, the Divine Wisdom, the one through whom all things were created. Some ancient churches dedicated to “Holy Wisdom” (Hagia Sophia in Greek) are actually dedicated to Christ.

The icon is hand-painted according to Byzantine tradition and style—written with mineral pigments and egg emulsion. In front, the golden leaves (23.7K) and colors are covered with protective varnish. The back of the wooden panel is covered with dark-colored varnish.

Panels are entirely natural wood. All materials used to prepare the wood for iconography are natural as well.
