On the icon we see our venerable mother Mary taking the Holy Communion given to her by St. Zosima. One of the most beloved saints because with her life she serves as an example that a big sinner might transform into a pure, righteous person. The feast day of Saint Mary of Egypt is April 1; however, she is also commemorated on this Sunday due to her recognition by the Church as a model of repentance.

The icon is handwritten according to the Byzantine tradition and technique: egg tempera and golden leaves (23.7 K), only from established brands. Panels are made of natural linden wood. The desk is a recessed panel.
All materials used to prepare the wood for iconography are natural as well.
